Fire apparatus has evolved through the years from bucket lines and horse drawn engines to the highly specialized fire apparatus today.

The Fire Service has evolved to serve many roles.  Fire Departments across the country serve their traditional fire suppression roles in addition to: medical/paramedic; technical rescue; extrication; hazardous materials; search and rescue; dive rescue; forest fires; and many many more.

The equipment used in these roles has evolved and become more specialized over the years.  Additionally, innovation in fire equipment has improved the safety for those in the Fire Service and the people they help.

Our role at the Penguin County Fire Department is to help maintain the history and appreciation of the apparatus of yesteryear.  By preserving a slice of Americana, kids today and in the future can receive a handful of candy on the parade line from history and not just today's state-of-the-art fire apparatus.

Thanks!
